Children love to decorate Christmas trees. Provide a green felt Christmas tree and some small decorations and invite children to decorate their tree while practicing fine motor and sorting skills.
What you need:
Pot pie tin bowls
Small Christmas decorations - Pom-poms, small presents, stars, birthday candles, small Styrofoam balls, small bows, pinecones, etc.
Tray
Green felt
Scissors
Black marker
What you do:
With the black marker, draw a pine tree shape on the green felt and cut out.
Place Christmas decorations inside the tin bowls and arrange on the tray.
Let children decorate the Christmas tree.
To extend the activity, let children sort the different Christmas decorations by color, type, size, etc.
Patterns:
Encourage children to make a pattern with the decorations.

Begin a pattern and let children extend the pattern.
