Leaf Man Craft
The book Leaf Man is a great book to use during your fall/autum unit. First, read Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert to your preschool and kindergarten children during story time. Then, let children make their own leaf man craft puppet. Let them take the puppets outside to create their own Leaf Man story. Provide writing materials for the children to write their Leaf Man adventures and share with their friends and family.
What you need:
Book: Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert
2 maple leaves
2 long leaves (optional)
Jumbo craft stick
Clothes pin with springs
Glue
Wiggly eyes
Small rock or black pom-pom
NOTE: You can either use dried and pressed leaves or use fresh leaves and let children observe how the leaf man changes its shape as the leaves are drying.

What you do:
To make legs for the leaf man, glue the small leaves first on the craft stick.

Glue the larger maple leaf on top of the jumbo stick. Clip clothes pin on top of the leaf and craft stick.
Preschool Activities:
Glue wiggly eyes on smaller maple leaf and glue to the top of the clothes pin. Draw a mouth to the clothes pin part that is visible.
