Print the Pete the Cat printables and laminate for extra strength.
Ask children how many shoes Pete the Cat needs. Let children place any color shoes on Pete the Cat's legs.
Encourage children to place two different color shoes on Pete. Let them tell you what color shoes and how many Pete is wearing. For example: Pete the Cat is wearing 2 red shoes and 2 yellow shoes. He has 4 shoes altogether.
Let children sort the shoes by color.
Start a pattern and have children find the shoe that comes next.
