The importance of instilling the concept of...
Children paint and sing while building tooth-brushing muscles!
Grade, Age Range or Specialized Learner: Multi-age, Preschool/Pre-K, 3-5 year old
Target Learning Skills:
You will need some old toothbrushes, red and yellow construction paper, white paint, and some dish soap to do this activity with your class. Create mouths from the red (lips) and yellow (non-brushed teeth) paper and give one mouth to each child. Talk about how the teeth look and ask what happened to make them so yellow. Brainstorm ideas for how to fix them. Ultimately, the children in our class came to the conclusion that the teeth needed a good brushing!
We gave the children the paint (toothpaste) and toothbrushes to begin cleaning the teeth. To make the paint foam up as the children painted we added a few drops of dish soap. As the children painted, everyone sang the following song:
Brushing Teeth (Original Author Unknown)
(Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star")
Here's my toothpaste.
Here's my brush.
I won't hurry.
I won't rush.
Working hard to keep teeth clean,
Front and back and in between.
When I brush for quite a while,
I will have a happy smile.
Enjoy these Apple Smile Snacks from Recipe Shoebox after a morning of painting and singing fun! Just make sure to brush your teeth afterwards!
